Faithful till Death (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

Part of the The Coming Spiritual Earthquake series, preached for Growing Together Radio

Daily we are reminded that there is a cultural war being waged against Christianity. From lawsuits in Texas to rulings in South Carolina, little by little, brick by brick, our freedoms are being chipped away and dismantled. This is a Brave New World that we live in. Today they are removing us from the public square. Tomorrow they may restrict our freedom of religious speech. The day after that, chains may await the faithful. When your faith is on the firing line, will you be faithful till death?
In 2 Timothy, Paul knows that his life is about to _______
Paul is one of many Christian Martyrs. He was beheaded for his faith
Faithfulness in life - 2 Tim 4:7
Fighting the good fight
This is the language of the coliseum, perhaps wrestling or gymnastics
From the word fought we get the word _______________
From the word fight, we get the word ______________
Christians wrestled in the pit against wild animals, warriors and dangerous traps
Finishing the Race
The Christian faith is a ________________, not a glorious sprint
It takes great endurance to make it to the end of the course
Keeping the Faith
Four areas of faithfulness
#1 Faithfulness to the faith –Hold to the truth
We must maintain our _________ in the extremes of torture or temptation
#2 Faithfulness in the ____________ things – Luke 16:10
If you are faithful in little things, you can be trusted with big things
If you’re not faithful in little things how will you face _____ opposition?
#3 Faithfulness in _____________ matters - Luke 16:11
Do you give first to God, pay your bills, and pray about your finances?
Faithfulness in your finances is one of the keys to _______________
#4 Faithful in _________ ___________ things - Luke 16:12
We are not owners; we are managers of the things God has entrusted to us
God wants you to manage his stuff biblically - for his glory
Faithful till death - 2 Timothy 4:8
There is a ___________ of Righteousness awaiting the faithful
The reward of righteousness is for those who _______ his appearing
Faithfulness is a matter of love, not so much a matter of duty
Are you in love with Jesus Christ?
Are you going to be one of the faithful who is still standing for Jesus in the end? If you aren’t faithful in little things, it’s because you really don’t have a passionate love for Jesus. If you were really crazy about Jesus, You’d be in church every time the doors opened. If you really loved God, you’d read your Bible and pray all the time. If you were really sold out on the Savior, you’d have no problem being a servant to others. If your heart was passionate about Jesus, you’d be faithful in your finances... You’d gladly and generously give your best to Christ. If you overflowed with gratitude toward your Lord you’d be a careful manager of the stuff God has placed in your care. Will you make the momentous commitment to be faithful till death?
