Tough times? God’s Grace is sufficient
Acts 12

Today we are going to meet a Titanic disaster. He had been a rising star, but he challenged an iceberg too big for his ship and he too sank with her. His name is Herod Agrippa I. His claim to fame? He was the first among the Roman elite to persecute the church. His passing would be a marker in the road, a stern reminder, that God guides the affairs of mankind. Though the church may be ill treated, though we may go through tough times, God’s Grace is Sufficient, and God’s plan will triumph in the end.

THE CHURCH ON TRIAL IN HEROD’S COURT

The beloved Apostle _____________ has been beheaded

Peter has been arrested!

God Stands in for the Defense

Why Peter was sleeping?

The verdict: innocent, the Defendant goes free

An Angel freed Peter and he quickly left ___________

HEROD ON TRIAL IN GOD’S COURT

Herod’s Failures…

He Lost Peter

The soldiers weren’t supposed to _________ while on duty

It came as quite a shock that Peter was gone

The Soldiers searched the entire ___________ complex

There was only one thing left to do. Tell Herod.

Herod searched the ________, and the surrounding area

He Lost His Soldiers

He Lost His Life

Back in Caesarea there is a bit of intrigue going on

The people of Tyre and Sidon, got an audience with the king

They flattered him, “This is a god speaking, not a man.”

Herod gave in to pride and glorified ______________

In the heat of pride, God struck him.

He died at the age of 54. He had reigned only 7 years

THREE CONCLUDING THOUGHTS:

#1. Man’s ______________ is destined to fail in the end:

#2. Man’s thirst for ___________ will face crushing reversals:

#3. Man’s need for ___________ is ever constant.

Times are tough, evil men fill the earth, but God’s Grace is sufficient. Though the winds and waves batter the rocky shore, rest without care in the cleft of the rock.
