Overcoming Fear of Sickness ()

Dennis Kreiss, April 25, 2020
Part of the Faith VS Fear series, preached for Growing Together Radio

We are living in times of unprecedented fear! Just read the paper or watch the news to catch the latest sensationalized headlines about the pandemic that is captivating the world. Everywhere you look there is fear inducing, bad news. Fear is paralyzing. Unfounded fear is a liar and a thief. It will play with your mind and steal your hope.
There are two ways to live;
You can live in faith
You can live in fear.
“Twenty-eight percent of Americans suffer from an anxiety disorder.”
24 million Americans will experience phobias in their lifetimes.
Fear and anxiety make you sick, but faith heals.
1. Affirm the Promises of the Bible! 1-4
Third Person - “He” who dwells in the secret (1)
First Person - “I” will say of the Lord (2)
Second Person - “You” shall not be afraid (3-13)
“Fourth Person” - “I” (God) will deliver you! (14-16)
The best way to build your faith is to affirm the promises of the Bible.
Verse 2 “in Him I will trust.” Trust God’s promises.
Verse 4 “His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”
Romans 10:17 “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
2. Live Courageously 5-8
You shall not be afraid.
God tells us not to be afraid because he knows we tend to be anxious.
“Do not be afraid, for God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:8-9
Wash your hands but trust the Lord!
3. Trust in your Sovereign, loving God. 9-16
This psalm paints a picture of an eagle and her hatchlings.
God has his sheltering wings around you. Nothing ever happens to one of his children but it doesn’t first filter through the hands of a loving God. Affirm God’s promises! Live courageously! And Trust in the Sovereign, Loving God.
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand
When don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand
Trust His Heart
