Overcoming the Fear of Armed Conflict ()

Dennis Kreiss, May 23, 2020
Part of the Faith VS Fear series, preached for Growing Together Radio

At any time, about 50% of Americans struggle with the fear of war. Some people are paralyzed by the fears and trauma they suffered on the battle field. And yet there is one thing that can comfort us from our fears and keep us safe in the arms of Love. Trust in Jesus. If you, by faith, find strength, solace, help and courage in the God of refuge, you will finally be able to find peace.
Find Strength in Dependence on God 1-3
• War came against him (3b)
• An army encamped around him (3a)
• A multitude of wicked enemies came to destroy the land (2)
Trust in the Sovereign God will overcome the fear of man every time.
God is the only real power on the battle field.
Find Solace in the House of God 4-6
To find safety from the phobias of life, you must worship!
You must take time to curl up in the holy presence of God.
Find Help in the Prayers and Promises of God 7-10
David cried out to the Lord when he was in need!
When you pray those kinds of prayers, you get answers.
Find Courage when you Wait on the Lord 14
Your fears won’t disappear, but you will have the Holy Spirit with you.
“WAIT.” Kaw-vaw. means to linger for a long time.
It is used of slowly braiding strands of twine together.
This verse is saying patiently braid and bind yourself to the Lord, for when you wait on Him, you gain his courage and strength. Bind yourself, I say to the Lord. “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
