Overcoming the Fear of Corruption ()

Dennis Kreiss, May 9, 2020
Part of the Faith VS Fear series, preached for Growing Together Radio

Did you know that the top fear of Americans is the fear of government corruption? Nothing scares the bejeebers out of Americans more than corrupt government officials. Fear will ruin your life! It may be that one day we will have to live under the hard hand of a Nero who condemns Christians to the lion or a Pharaoh who throws children into the Nile; no matter who your leaders are, it is the Christ follower who lives by faith who will live the best.
Tyrants are Bad! 1-6
They only take care of themselves. (2)
They take advantage of their people (3)
Their policies don’t help those who need it (4)
They use threats and brutality to get what they want (4)
Every generation has its share of tyrants.
“When the wicked rule, the people groan.” Proverbs 29:2
Prayer is how to live by faith in times of tyranny. 1 Timothy 2:1-3
Your prayers are more powerful than tyrants.
God is against Tyrants 7-10
Four things God will do to tyrants:
1. He will hold them accountable for the flock
2. He will remove them from leadership
3. He will stop them from plundering the flock
4. He will rescue us from the very mouth of the lion
Submission to authority is how to live by faith! 1 Peter 2:13-15
God will be our Shepherd 11-16
“I am the Good Shepherd!” Jesus – John 10:7-11, 27-28
“I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down.”
These are the times of our lives. The fear of sickness and disease has exploded exponentially. The prospect of poverty and hard times is knocking at our door like a famine. Potential corruption that goes all the way to the top is rife. With Jesus as your shepherd, you can experience perfect peace in times of tyranny or trouble. To live by faith, live a life by prayer and submission to Jesus the Good Shepherd.
