Welcome to prophecy update #2. In the last days, a Great Apostasy will sweep through the church. According to 2 Thessalonians 2, just before the coming of the Lord there will be a widespread departure from the faith. Let me tell you why I believe that the Great Apostasy is already underway.
Ours is a planet in peril.
We are a culture in chaos, in a turbulent sea of confusion.
Apostasy has little to do with the condition of the unsaved world.
Apostasy pertains to the spiritual temperature of the Church.
Jesus is Coming Soon - 1
???????? parousia, meanins “his presence, his arrival, or his coming.”
What is the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?” (Matthew 24:3).
There is the coming of the Lord for His saints. 1 Thessalonians 3:13,
And the coming of the Lord with His saints. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
??????? harpazo, means “caught up, snatched away.” The Rapture.
Fear Will Overtake Many - 2
They were afraid that the day of Christ had already come.
Jesus has not yet returned, but he will soon return.
Some religious groups teach that Jesus has already returned!
Theological confusion creates fear.
?????? saleuo “Shaken” means to be battered and beaten by storms.
Deception will Empty the Church - 3
?????????? apostasia means “a falling away, defection, apostasy.”
Some erroneously teach that there will be a worldwide revival before Jesus comes.
“At that time many will turn away from the faith” Matthew 24:10–12:
In latter times some will depart from the faith. 1 Tim 4:1-3,
“They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us.”1 John 2:19
Consider the following apostasy:
#1 NRMs Have Multiplied
#2 Numerous denominations have abandoned biblical Christianity.
#3 The share of practicing Christians has nearly dropped in half since 2000.
#4 1 in 3 have abandoned the church since the Covid shutdown!
The speculation is that they won’t be back!
People in the pews are checking out, and this will only increase in the wake of the corona virus. We have never seen a departure from the faith the magnitude of this one. And it happened overnight! Someone has thrown a wrench into the machinery, causing spiritual bewilderment and apostasy, never before witnessed in history. Even so Lord Jesus come.
